Rewiring
zilspeed - 14/4/10 at 09:40 PM

Based on this rat's nest, I guess I'll be rewiring.

Going to start from scratch and build a loom to suit the switchgear, lights and engine. It's hardly a popular combo, Viva stalks onto Kawasaki engine.

It's strange how therapeutic getting rid of all this crap is proving to be.

yep. looks like the best place to start - from scratch!

what kwakker engine are you using?

Maybe you could you reuse the...

... or maybe not!

What's the looped 'metal' stuff at the top? Is it metal conduit?

Bath chain?

I'm guessing this didn't pass SVA!

Cheers,
James

Looks like capilliary pipe for a gauge of some sort

Yep, it was an old fashioned capillary tube for the oil pressure.

It has now been rendered useless as has all of the wiring in the picture by judicious use of my trusty sidecutters.

Very soon, the chassis will once more be nothing more than a chassis.
I found a minor area of rot in the central moncoque, this has now been cut out.
All the bodywork and suspension are now off.
Side and floor panels will be off soon then it's off to the blasters.

I guess there's only one way to do a job right...

Phew... makes my wiring job look straightforward!
