Get a selction of mega fuses say 100 to 150 amps put a low one in first. and see what happens.

Get hold of an amp clamp and try it under load.

The car is currently on stands at the mo, so its difficult to get an idea under load. It sounds like i need to aim for a maxi-type of fuse, so will get a couple to try

Cheers

To do it any better than a guess you'd need to know the motor specs. More info would be required before being able to work it out.

I would guess in the region of 150 amps. dont think maxi come bigger than 80. Partco stock some 150 and i think bigger for the RAC jump start jacks on the vans.

I have a fusible link here off a Nissan Note.

It bolts direct onto the battery terminal and has a main 250a then 4 80a fuses for the main harness. Starter cable bolts to the top.

I can bring to Newark a couple for you to play with. Here's the drawing... Rescued attachment Fuseable Link.jpg
