Hall effect Speed Sensor
Dave Bailey - 4/7/10 at 07:40 AM

I have a GT101 hall effect... I have wired my speed sensor to 5V... Anyone know if this sensor will run at 5V. On the Motec website the PDF they have shows 8 Volts....

Thanks

Most automotive hall effect devices work on a 12 supply, but will work lower. 5 might be too low, but could work.

Well an update.. the sensor works fine @ 5V.. so that was a good result... The down side to the day is that my brakes failed on my MR2 roadster.... The pedal went hard and it was nearly impossible to stop and the look on the wifes face was a picture when I nearly went through a red light! Checked the Vacuum to the servo and there is one but not sure if it is enough... I need to do a vacuum test on the servo somehow.... plus find out what else could cause the problem... I have ABS but no lights come on.... so that I suppose must be ok...

any thoughts...
