Altenator Requirements
maskell01 - 17/7/10 at 08:29 PM

Today i went in hunt of a small altenator and found a tiny one off a suzuki swift on a 56 plate.

It generates 75 amp according to the data plate,is this sufficent?

What are the average requirements?

cheers

Yeah good point,
a standard kit car, lights super bright 6 and the clocks, also the battery!

I suspect a Swift will draw a fair bit more than you will need in a 'standard' kit car!

I hope its more than enough mines only a 45A....

have you got a photo of this suzuki swift alternator?
mine is a standard vauxhall one, and is alright, but tis a little bit on the large side. denso ones seem to cost a fortune, and have the wrong pulley on them

I used to run a 10 amp in a race car, ignition and taillights.

75 Amps?? That's enough to run a fleet of cars!!

My 45 Amp Denso (£25 on eBay) happily runs my car which has a heater, satnav and stereo fitted.

Remember diversity applies .
Not everything is on at full all the time.
So work out what the current draw is fom that.
Battery should see13.8v to maintain eq voltage.

These are growing in popularity for kit cars i'm told:
