few problems
scoobydooby914 - 31/7/10 at 06:45 PM

hi everyone, just bought myself a mk indy blade, and the car is spot on except for a few issues with the gauges. first of all my oil pressure gauge goes straight over to 90psi as soon as you turn on the ignition, and when you start the engine it just stays put at 90.
secondly my speedo has a mind of its own and when changing gear it quite often jumps over to 100mph and then drops back down. any help would be amazing.

are the clocks originaly of the blade or are the odd gages?

no it has a full set of aftermarket clocks

wiring faults, you need to get in there and sort it out, or get someone else to. What dfid the previosu owner say about it?

ive only just noticed it. where does a bike engined kit car normally get a speed signal from

oil pressure

No earth on the sender!!
Thus causing the gauge to see max resistance and therefore think it has high oil pressure

any ideas where somebody would have put an oil pressure sender on an 893 fireblade engine as ive found the sender for the light and its only got one wire coming from it so im guessing someone has put another one in

sender switches to earth (through engine)

The problem was that there was no earth on the sender

Have you got a wiring diagram for the engine, if you haven't, best you get one and start getting familiar with it. Haynes manual will do very well.

if its by cable it would come from the front wheel(on a bike) and digital once i think have a pulse sender coming off the sproket by the engine but not sure, check your diff where the prop bolts on too see if there is a sender there!
