I have started the swicth from the Dizzy to EDIS 4 and Megajolt on the Indy Pinto engine.
I first attached the EDIS4 and Coil pack to check that the sensor and trigger wheel works. Connected the EDIS4 power direct to the battery with NO
megajolt and she turns over and fires beautifully - much smoother that Dizzy. I understand that this is in a Limp mode, but proves my wiring and
sensor works.
I then "aasumed" that the EDIS4 should be powered off of an Ignition LIVE and so wired directly back to the ignition barrel on its own feed
and fuse. HOWEVER, it wont fire like this. I metered out the voltage and it is getting through OK. What I did notice is that while cranking, the
12volts drops on the ignition live......
Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong please? Should the EDIS4 be powered a by a permanent Live ?

Switched permanent yes. You want it to receive power at position one when you turn the ignition key.
I can't remember where I've taken mine from exactly but I've fed MJ from the same wire.
Its a fairly common mistake you've made btw. It's specifically listed on the megajolt site that people often accidentally take their power
from the feed that dies when cranking.

Hi, don't know what ignition switch you have, but some have an "ignition" feed that is actually cut off when in the cranking position.
This could be why your ignition 12 V disappears when cranking. If you tap the EDIS feed off the coil's ignition feed you should avoid this
trap.

I'm not much use with Ford stuff, but yes, you can re-use the old coil's ignition feed if you can identify it. If there was a ballast
resistor involved you need to connect your EDIS to the switch side of the resistor, not the coil side.
Alternatively, there must be a contact on your ignition switch that stays at 12 V when cranking, i.e. the proper "ignition live". The first
click of the switch is usually the "accessories" feed, which as I said is often cut off while cranking.

Thanks, Just been out and checked again. I have wired to the "first"turn on the Key which does come LIVE. However as you implied it does seem to drop voltage when cranking.

Do you mean the "old" coil wiring that I have removed to fit the EDIS ? I read something while googling about a Ballast resistor is this in the same area ?

Thanks all , Have it sorted now. Used the ignition positive from the "old" coil connection.
However, Can I get connected to the Megajolt, can I buggery. Have tried two laptops one with a serial connector, the other with a usb adapter and
nowt. Keep getting a "cylinder type" message. I am happy the coms port is correct cos if i deliberately choose the wrong one. I get a
more specific "port error" message.
Doing my head in ....
