Hi Guys,
Got an interesting issue with my car. Some basic info for you first:
Pinto running Bike TB's on MS1 (v3)
When you turn the key off, the car will SOMETIMES not stop. I've searched the forum and found that sometimes, feedback from the alternator can
cause this, so as suggested I install a diode in the cable, this seemed to solve it, and the can was turning off quite the thing with the key, but
it's starting doing it again!
My initial thoughts are something has failed or is failing in the diode I installed and maybe I put too small a diode into the line. Any thoughts?

Does it still run on with the alternator out of circuit?
Yep Sounds like you have overloaded the Diode and its gone short circuit. Try a bigger one or multiple diodes in parallel. Also make sure the diode(s)
you use have a high enough reverse voltage rating.

Also make sure the diode is connected the correct way round, it matters a diode acts like a one way valve (sort of).
You could try flashing the headlights when its running on:
If that kills it then its the same small backfeed thats back, if it doesn't its probably another problem
This is a fault and shouldn't happen so rather than find ways round the problem, why not get to the root of it and sort it out. That's why I asked if it still happened with the alternator disconnected. If it doesn't it could point to a fault there.
do you have a realy in place for the Rad fan ? sometimes this can cause problems if you have it wired to a permanent live. It causes a back feed to the ignition circuit

When it sometimes doesnot stop, how long for and how well? ie could yo keep ondriving it normally and smoothly?
Could it be detonation run on?
as said try it with the alternator un belted to start eliminating things
Yup, it is as if you haven't turned it off at all. Not actual tried driving like that but the engine note doesn't change at all
I'll try removing the belt, or disconecting the alternator. Disconnecting it would be easier so I'll try that first.

Could the ignition switch be faulty? If you are running an electric pump does that go off when the ignition is switched off. Perhaps something to check after you've tried it with the alternator disconnected.
