I'm really struggling here guys, I will be fitting 2 relays, 1 for dip and 1 for main, I am using a peugeot indicator stalk. I can have dipped working, but dipped stays on with main beam!!! I cannot find a wiring diagram for the peugeot 306/405 etc indicator stalk. Can anyone help?
Is that a bad thing?!I purposely wired up the lights on my Imp to do that!
I have heard that the bulbs can run too hot? and possibly blow?
Sounds like a wiring issue around the switch, or you may have even wired it incorrectly.
Bear in mind that side lights are always on (when you switch on the lights)
Then comes the headlights, and this wire then goes to the dip switch which gives you Dipped OR main beam.
Also remember tied in with all that is the Main Beam Flash switch. which is just connected to the Main beam relay.
Time for a bit of circuit testing and tracing.
EIDT: I would agree about both beams not wanting to be on at the same time due to overheating the bulb.
This is assuming you have a dual filament bulb in a single headlight unit.

Its worth pointing out that if you have both beams on at the same time you might run the risk of overloading the wiring and/or switch (also the bulb
if its a dual filament H4)
Maybe a changeover relay would be the answer?
It will also throw the beam pattern out for IVA and fail if it is using standard H4 bulbs and both filaments are lit. There was a clause that only separate headlights should stay on together for MOT as on BMW and posh cars with projector lights.
can it be done with a 5 pin relay? does anyone have a diagram??
