My next task is to wire redy for my reverse, I want to put a relay in so the reverse button only works when the neutral light is lit. The neutral light is switched earth, I need to wire the relay in this way, will the relay draw too much power through the neutral wire as earth?

I understand that this is only to activate the relay rather than the load itself.

The current draw by the coil of a bosch relay is ~0.160 amps (~75 ohm coil) so you should be fine.
Some relays from Maplin have a higher coil resistance of (~400 ohms) which means that it will draw ~1/5 the amount of current of the Bosch relay.

if you wire the earth wire for the relay to the neutral wire, it will only switch the relay on when it is in neutral. there will be minimal load on the relay provided that you are using the signal part of the relay. you can then fit a positive wire to the other side of the signal which can be switched. this way, the reverse light will go out even if the switch is left on once in gear.

The wiring will be for reverse gear ( starter motor) so it cannot be engaged whilst driving!

same thing applies. Just use a starter relay.
