Glowshift Clocks, has anyone used these yet?
The Venom Project - 19/12/10 at 03:23 PM

Hi Everyone,

I am now back in the running for another Kit :-) (Stupid me I hear you say)

However this time I won't be using a bike engine in a car as such, I will be using an R1 engine mounted in its natural mounting position using its standard chain setup in a reverse Trike. I think after my ultra dissapointing year with my MNR and a feeling that the all in 1 Digidash had some role to play in failure of the Oil pressure I am going down the individual clock route.

I don't need Oil Pressure clocks or anything really over the top.

The main clocks I need are: Speedo, Tacho, Fuel level, Water Temp, Volts

I initially looked at the Koso RX-2, however I am in the same plight with that, needing to flick through various screens to see what I need. I am in no doubt that if the MNR had, had seperate clocks for Oil etc, the damage caused at 9000RPM may have been averted.

I plan to fit Glowshift Clocks. They are made in the USA and I had already bought the fual gauge for my MNR. They look very cool, and I wondered if anyone else had fitted them?

Just wondering on how easy they are to wire in? They do a loom allowing all the clocks to be daisy chained together for the power, which is a real bonus.

I think I will still get Garry form Autosparks to wire it in anyway.

Any Feedback would be great and pics too.

Cheers

Nick

Wouldnt A simple red light on the dash do for lack of oil indication

I am sure it would, but I want my TR1KE to look the buisness too. I defo don't want another all in one unit if I can help it.

glad to hear you are getting a new project

but from what I heard with the last one, the problem was not enough oil in the engine..

I would have thought an oil presure gauge was the first thing you would be fitting.

good luck with the build.

The problem with the last one was I suspect the setting for oil pressure was not on due to the Digidash selection feature, I can't say for sure as it wasn't me who had it on a rolling road.

I won't ever risk that again. I won't ever risk a Rolling Road again either

I will fit all these things when I get my kit, still in the process of ordering it as of yet.

Just to say, there was plenty of oil in the engine, The sump alone had over 3 litres in, and the Accusump held a further 1.4 litres, however something on the oil side totally went wrong.

spa design dual gauges would be your best bet, very accurate and can show 2 things on each clock at once.
