Hi folks!
I'm trying to track down a wiring diagram for what began life as a 2004 MGTF 1.6, with MEMS3 ECU.
I've got the body control module and engine/ECU from the same car. I'm trying to find out as much info as I can on how to wire it all up, as
I bought the parts as a bundle, but already broken, and don't know what exactly they all connected to. I'm also looking for the pins on the
engine ECU to connect the dash instrumentation to, tacho and water temperature?
The lump's going in a Costin Sports Roadster, for which I'll also be building a loom and running aftermarket clocks - the Smiths Telemetrix
range looks most likely. Calling all Libra builders (such as there's likely to be on a locost forum!)
Thanks in advance,
Rod.
You need a copy of the Rover Rave workshop manual CD Ebay should turn one up for a couple of quid or so.
You really would need the cars security ECU if you want to be able disarm the the ECUs internal imobiliser.
Personally I would just send the the ECU away to get disarmed and doctored by a specialist so it dosen't look for imobilser disarm code.
Sorry, should have mentioned; I have the plipper/immobiliser keyfob thing, the body control module and the ECU all off the same car, so are already
coded to each other.
Sounds like the Rave CD's the one. Thanks!
But do you have the Lucas 5AS (later models Pektron) security control unit -- this is different from the the BCU
Might be worth a search on a mini forum, im pretty sure subframes are available now for classic minis so those guys may have wiring details too, they seem to be getting quite popular
Yup - I've got the 5AS.
I've just found a wealth of info on VVC cars, which has answered plenty of questions; but since mine's not a VVC, it looks like the
wiring/plug colours are different. I'm going to get hold of the Rave CD, maybe even a TF manual. I've also found reference to there being a
"coil" around the ignition switch which is part of the immobiliser system, that drops the starter relay when the ignition key is removed
from the switch; does this mean I NEED to use a Rover column switch, or swipe a Rover "coil" and use the accessory circuit from my actual
(Vauxhall) column switch to drive it?
Many apologies if I'm asking fairly elementary questions; when I kicked off the project, I had ready access to a K wiring Guru, who was prepared
to assist when the time came; he's since passed away. (Farewell, JT).
And thanks for the Mini hint; I'm lurking on a few of their forums as well.

I know of many Rovers running around with the ignition switch antenna either disconnected or never fitted. Every thing should work normally as long as you push dis-arm on the key fob immediately before you start (or re-start) the car. i.e. if you stall the car you would have to disarm the system before restarting.
Early VVC cars were generally MEMS 2
MEMS 1.9 and MEMS 2 use different wiring plugs from MEMS 3
