Hi All
Anybody got views on mounting a coil behind the dash and out of the engine bay? Not on a 7 but an Elan - the normal position mounts the coil close to
the carbs which has led to a few fires because of fuel leaks.
Wiring would be easy and running the HT lead also easy and not a lot longer than standard.

If you're using balasted HT lead then the longer the HT lead the higher the resistance. Other than that I can't see a problem.
ISTR my Elan (RWD) coil was mounted somewhere on the innerwing near the airbox --- used to get covered in oil.
Thanks guys - the idea is to keep it away from all the fuel, oil and other sh*t that accumulates around the area where Chapman designed it to go!
Under the dash I think is the plan!

Wyn
Is there nowhere in the engine bay it can go, perhaps with a shround over it? If the coil develops a leak, it's not something I would particularly want in the cabin....
