Re: Side repeaters

Apologies to all, if this seems to be going over well-trodden ground, but there remains 1 significant area as yet very ill-defined (as far as I can determine). Its to do with siting/positioning the indicator side repeaters.

OK - so I've found the official bit in the IVA test manual. Following careful reading, asterisks point you to some notes. The relevant one states that repeaters must be visible "...from the rear, 5 deg to 60 deg.".

Yes, but relative to what??? It don't give no datum. How can one establish the correct position without checking these angles? Any help to clarify this point will be gratefully received.

Some further relevant stuff here :- http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=150748

Thanks in advance.

Just going through this myself with a new build.

You'll find an appendix in the IVA rules, which gives a nice picture, with all the angles you need to know.

Section 20 'Installation of Lights'.

Neville, thanks very much for the more up-to-date version of the IVA manual. Page 163 has the diagram you mentioned. Great, now I have a reference point.

Will re-fit h/lamps, plastered with appropriate white labels, so I can set up sight-lines per that diagram.

Thanks again for your advice, and good luck with the test.
