what generally happens when you mix and match repeater lamps?

as above really. what generally happens when you mix standard indicator bulbs with led side markers?
i have heard that most get an irregular flash rate but my led side markers dont work at all! the wire harness from the side markers was long enough to get from the outer edge of front arch into the car where i have crimped the connection.and there is voltage there when tested with voltage tester. does polarity matter on an led lamp? there is a yellow and a black and i used the black as the groundand the yellow as a live,as there was no instructions. cheers

Yes Led's are a diode and only work one way.

yes, leds will only work connected one way round.
sometimes you'll get a faster flash rate if using any leds (the reduced load tricks the relay to thinking a blub has blown)

ok.i used the black as a ground in all my wiring and the headlights and rear lights all used the black as the earth as did the fan! is it common to use a yellow as a gound and black as a 12v feed?

on the led light i bought, black is +ve, white is -ve. don't know why, but it is lol

My LED repeaters use Black as ground and Yellow as +12V.

I have to use a 6.8 ohm 25 Watt resistor across the LED lamp to get the flash rate correct because I am using LED front indicators as well. When I used bulb front indicators there was no need for the resitor across the LED repeater lamps.

nooooo, don't go putting resistors in everywhere, makes things way more complicated that they have to be!
use one of these instead

i have bought one today but will no doubt find that swappin the wires over will work on the standard flasher unit

Not to mention the fire risk! Use a proper flasher unit and keep safe
