alternator voltage regulator

Hi can anyone confirm for me that the black wire from a voltage regulator on a Lucas alternator attaches to the alternator case, the regulator is a small square black box type with a black and a yellow wire coming from it.
Thanks

you sure that is t he regulator and not suppressor? A photo would help as depending on model of Lucas alternator, form your description it could be either. (the anser in both cases may be yes, it is earthing wire but let's see first eh)

fairly sure its the regulator, its back on now and appears to be working fine. The alternator has been intermittently not charging so put a post on here and it was suggested to change the brushes which i did and job sorted......didnt even pay for the brushes cos the garage i went to couldnt find his new ones so gave me a few of part worn which were better than the ones i took out.
This forum is spot on and has saved me pounds and given me the confidence and knowledge to take on jobs i would not normally do
Thanks for your reply al the same
