I have quite a selection of pre-insulated spade connections. They are all 6.3mm and I have the Red, Blue and Yellow varieties. I have been very
careful with wiring and made double sure I use the correct thick wire in the correct location. However I need to connect stuff together etc. I
haven't checked what current the 6.3mm connectors can handle. I assumed that if the cable fitted the connector then the connector could handle
the current.
Does anyone have any idea what the capacity is of this type connector?

Nothing to do with cable size but a standard 6.3mm (1/4" Lucar spade connector is rated at 15 amps max. The next size up is 35 amps.

Maybe me being fick but Big Vee Twin said that the yellow connectors can carry up to 48A and British Trident says 15amps. Who is correct?
Yes it is pretty common to see them push way beyond the nominal rating, but I always keep in mind 35 amp spade connectors always gave on
alternator plugs because they were operating at too high a current.

yes, 6.3 mm are used on alternators, higher output alternators have two of them in parallel, not sure what the crossover is from 1 to 2 but it is around 40 A region
^^^ you may well be right, I was thinking the common size is 4.7 mm so the next size up is 6.3 mm, as used on alternator..... just abot to check now ....
