am trying to charge my car battery, the charger says its charged but it wont start the car, the battery has been flat for a few months!!

Try connecting the battery leads back up.....

If it is an intelligent charger, then they can sometimes have problems charging completely flat batteries. if your got an older style (non intelligent charger) then id give that a go before trying anything else

its all conected right, i jumped it with another battery and runs, i think the battery might be f**ked where its been sitting flat too long!

If you can get access to the electrolyte (ie it's not a totally sealed battery) then you can buy batterey reviver (I believe under the name Battery Tab).

This, I think, is basically a chemical called EDTA and I have certainly used it very successfully on the battery of my Vintage Austin which had been left completely discharged for almost a year.

As others have said you need an old style battery charger with a totally flat battery.
