Indicator gremlins

Hoping someone can help with an odd issue I am having with my indicators. This first happened at my failed IVA when the car got a good soaking on the trailer to Carlisle.

Basically when the engine is not running the indicators work fine either with the ignition on or off(so the hazards work with ignitn off). With the engine idling there seems to be a flicker on the electrics to the dash and the indicators flash and stutter with the relay firing rapidly. It is intermittent but if you pick up the revs It stops and they flash regularly both sides. Originally this raised it's ugly head when the headlights were on and the voltage dropped from normal charging at 14.5 volts to around 13-13.5 with the headlights on. Zx9 b4 engine with larger car battery. I have led repeaters on the wings and an led flasher relay.

Things we have tried so far:

Separate earths for the indicators to chassis. - no change
Switched from led side repeaters to bulbs - no change
New flasher relay - no change
Old original bike flasher relay - no change
Switched back to original switched live from bike loom to relay - no change
Disconnected alternator Inc case it was from charging circuit - got worse and flashed reallly quickly
About to create new chassis earth as currently the main loom earth is to the engine block with the battery earth to the same point.

Has anyone experienced anything like this. The b engine has a rectifier somewhere on the engine/alternator but I have not yet looked into this. Odd how it happens at tickover as if there is dropout or interference to the relay feed causing it to click in and out rapidly.

Any thoughts most welcome and it is driving me and my Dad mad.

Cheers

Rich

For the benefit of anyone searching for a similar issue......replaced the coils, leads and plug caps and that seems to have solved it.

Still none the wiser!
