Can anyone tell me if there is a minimal thickness required for the push-on starter-solenoid wire that goes to the ignition switch?
Cheers
Scotty
The solenoid will draw around 10a on a sierra starter motor But you would get a spike of more than that. I think I used somthing of around 25a
Cheers Wasa!
Aaaarghh!
Can anyone explain to me why the starter-solenoid would have two wires sharing the same heavy-contact? One is the +ve lead from the battery, the
other just feeds back into the wiring loom (haven't established where that one ends yet!).
Cheers
Scootz,
The other one might end up at the alternator? I'd check alternator end first.
Hi Eddie
It definitely doesn't go to the alternator.
PS - will get back to you soon about your U2U.
It bloody well does go to the alternator!
Just a shame that it goes right around the engine via 6 ft of wiring harness to bridge the 16 inch gap between the starter and alternator!
Where's my snips... I feel some more trimming coming on!
I have the same setup on my Rover V8. On mine the main perm power for the ignition switch comes off that terminal as well. I guess that your alternator is on the same side and just above the starter at the front whereas I have moved mine to the other side much lower down.
