teegray19 - 16/8/11 at 05:33 PM

anybody know the difference between the zzr1100 pre 1992 cdi and the 1993 onwards d model cdi units? do they inter change?

C model used an dished offset gearbox sprocket and D model had a flat sprocket.

Can't remember but I think the overall sprocket position was the same as the output shafts were slightly different to compensate.

Other than that they were phsically the same.

As far as I know the connectors are different.

Not sure about the gubbins inside. Never tried installing a D CDi on my C loom.

I can tell you that a C CDi will run both engines though!

all i can tell you is that the colours on the wiring of the cdi are different colours, and d1-2 is a different wiring loom to d3-4-5, i got the haynes manual if you need a pic!

thanks for the help, a picture wouldnt go a miss!

im thinking of a turbo zzr1100 so i may have to retard the timing with a piggyback ecu anyways.

as long as it got me going, if anyone has tried this let me know, be intereseted to see what the reslut was.
