Problem chaps
All lights working bar the dips could i just ask if the main beam is working can i assume the dip should be working, these are very old lights and
were working before i put them on the car
Need a bit more info:
What car
How many connections to lights (normally 3-4, Earth, Main, Dip and Side)
Fuse?
Most light swill have a seperate fuse for main and dip.

on the back of the large bulb there are 2 wires , the sidelight is separate from this and is ok. but dont see an earth could this be the problem ?
You can't really assume anything just from the operation of the main beam, other than the main beam filaments are intact. The dip beam uses
separate filaments, either within the same "light bulb" (e.g. a sealed beam lamp or H4 halogen which are often used in Locost headlamps),
or two physically separate lamps. It's entirely possible for one to be working and the other to be failed.
However, since dipped beam is not working on either lamp, the chances are somewhat higher that the fault lies elsewhere e.g. a wiring fault, blown
fuse or faulty switch etc. A multimeter or test lamp would quickly tell you one way or the other.
great many thanks will start tomorrow and check all
thanks again
