Tacho pickup - where from?

I'm running a 2.0 Zetec blacktop and Ford OWL5 EEC-V. My tacho is a new electronic Smith's (Caerbont) one.

Confused as to where the tacho get its input from. If from the ECU, can someone tell me the pin number?

if its OWLS rather than OWL5
the tacho output is pin 48
but i cant tell you if its compatable with your tacho.

Thanks for that.

Had my suspicions about pin 48. It's shown on my pinout as 'not used', but unlike the other 'not used' pins, there is actually a wire present (white/black from memory).

Can anybody else confirm this is indeed the tacho output on the OWL5?
