just about to lay out the loom and start
any advice for an electrical novice
best places for fuse box and relays etc
cheers nige
If i made another kitcar / 7 type i would fit the fuse box / relays on a drop down flap hinged at the back above the passengers feet under the
scuttle
jacko
just do one bit at a time and its easy
the wiring was one of the things that i put off for almost a year but once i got stuck in doing one bit at a time it was easy, get yourself a
multimeter!!
Multimeter is a good idea, but just a bulb with two wires soldered on, and a couple of cheapo crockodile clips is invalueble
I put mine in the glove box, but mounted them from the back so only the fuzes and holder covers were visible!
Fit a battery isolation switch to kill all the circuits. It could save your loom if you short out a wire. Fit a fuse link to blow first before the component or wire fries. Keep it simple and route cables away from heat and moving parts. Use conduit to insulate cables. Always use a relay for heavy current devices. Good luck.
Can i fit a battery isolator in the cabin area
thanks for all the replies i will take note
of every one
cheers nige
READ this it will help you and it covers the topics you need.....

Have you bought a purpose made loom? If so this will largely dictate the layout and position of most things. Work steady and double check things
before applying power.
Personally I prefer the fuses, relays etc positioned under the scuttle to protect from water ingress. I made an ally panel with all these components
on and positioned it above the passenger footwell. One tip...it pays to mount mark each fuse with it's circuit function, this makes it much
easier and quicker to fault find thereafter.
If you get stuck, just post pics and ask here, the answer will be provided pretty quickly
