Can i use any car battery?

Hi i got my hayabusa MK Indy R today and i know bugger all about bikes, some people will think im in over my head buying it but i see it as a learning curve lol!

Basically the car runs a very small bike race battery and because of this the electric reverse has been disconnected as every time it is used the battery goes flat, my question is can you just use any car battery in a bike setup so it will handle the electric reverse?

thanks

Yes, assuming the bike original battery was 12V, it should swap in just fine.

Yes but you might want to ensure it's well charged before attaching it. The resistance of a car battery will be lower (more plates, more cold cranking current) and your regulator might not like it if you attached it flat as a pancake.

thats great i will buy a new one anyway, wouldnt mess around with old batteries. I cant got over how easy the clutch is compared to the horror stories ive heard, i think i will cope fine in traffic the paddle clutch on my old car was alot less forgiving!

What battery are you using at the moment? Ironically I'm going the opposite way - reverse had come off as I hate it and the big car battery I just a waste of weight. Currently looking for a small light battery...

I'll have a look tomorrow mate and let you know! Ideally I would like not to have the reverse but because of how narrow my driveway is I need one really!

Indeed the BECs ive driven have all been very forgiving on the clutch side.
