Photons and side lights
Irony - 14/7/12 at 04:04 PM

I am getting a little confused with headlight wiring. Spent a good couple of hours head scratching and working out what wires go where etc.

I have a set of very nice photons from Russbost and they include dipped and main beams. However I don't think they include side lights. Having searched on here for 'side lights' it returns very few results.

Do I need side lights for the IVA and if I do has anyone got any nice ideas for lights that will go well with my photons?

They would have a separate bulb for sidelight. Do they not have them?

I would think that its a definate requirement for IVA to have them

side lights are a legal requirement and most defiantly needed for IVA

Slightly OT, but when do you put side lights on in the UK? We don't have them, and I haven't wired any in on mine. Just curious.

Only time i ever use them is for lighting the vehicle when stopped at night. Otherwise i dont use them.

My mondeo has auto headlights, when they come on and off at tunnels i've noticed they switch to side lights as i come out the tunnel then go out shortly after that. Dunno why.

quote:

You MUST
•ensure all sidelights and rear registration plate lights are lit between sunset and sunrise
•use headlights at night, except on a road which has lit street lighting. These roads are generally restricted to a speed limit of 30 mph (48 km/h) unless otherwise specified
•use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226)

Night (the hours of darkness) is defined as the period between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise).

Aren't you meant to use them when ever visability of your car might be impared to other road users, like when it's raining?
