What's a locost/scrapyard friendly way of rigging up a tachometer? I can't use the one that the donor engine (XUD) used as the flywheel
(HDI) has a different number of teeth and the gearbox (Pilot) doesn't have a place to mount a sensor.
I've heard of running them off the alternator but that looks a bit complicated. Some kind of sensor on the crank pulley?
Can you take it off your ECU?

Thanks for those links, Mike. I've remembered that I have a spare alternator in the garage that's the same as the one I'm using in my MK so i'll have a look inside that and see if it's suitable
