Ramdonly clicking relay?
Xtreme Kermit - 31/8/13 at 07:31 PM

Here's one for you electrical gurus...

Whilst driving along my indicator relay clicks randomly - when the wipers are used it ticks and clicks like its on speed...

And yet use the indicators and it calms right down and acts normally.

The indicators only light when in use...

Pull the indicator relay and everything is normal - with the exception that the indicators don't work

In the words of the song "What's going on?"

Check the earths for the wipers, indicators and relays. Sounds like one of then is dodgy and it's back feeding via the flasher relay to get to earth.

Good thought, I was thinking of replacing the relay and seeing if that sorted it, but a dodgy earth sounds like a definite possibility.

It's a bugger though as that's a scuttle off job on the Xtreme as all the dashboard earth points are sandwiched in there.

Place a good "tempoary" earth into the circuit, if it cures it make it permanent and cut the dodgy ones out without moving the scuttle. KISS.

That's a good idea Jon, but I don't know which circuit is faulty...

On the Xtreme, the fuse and relay panels are the only part of the electrics that are accessible without removing the scuttle.

Oh well - another job for the list...
