Help ford Mondeo horn
INDY BIRD - 17/1/14 at 07:24 PM

Well getting frustrated with the Mondeo st tdci

Need to get an mot on to sell but my horn has packed up and I can't figure it out,

What ive done so far

I put a set of new twin horns on,
Changed the relay out,
Checked fuse all ok,

Cleaned terminals on horn after tacking airbag out,

Check voltage now at horn and it's fluctuating between 8v above and below

Relay is clicking so I'm getting some power and the terminal,

Any ideas as I'm just frustrated now and can't think

Cheers

Are they after market horns? They may want to see 12 V.

What do you mean " fluctuating between 8v above and below"?

Check the new horns actually work by going direct to the battery.

Do they have 2 wires? Check that it has a good earth.

Its only a simply circuit, I would be tempted to just rewire if time is running out. There are a couple of pointers above anyway.

Yep 2 wires on the plug,

Meter was jumping up and down so when press the horn is saw 6v jumping to 8v but not stable,

May check the hors direct to battery they are std for horns

Thsanks for help

Have you done a continuity 'wiggle test' ?
Just thinking bad connection or poor wiring.

Have you probed for voltage along the circuit wiring ?

Is there a plug/connector on the harness where there could be a dodgy connection or a poor earth on the
horns themselves ?
