GPS SPEEDO WANTED
daniel mason - 22/3/14 at 08:26 PM

can anyone recommend a GPS speedo for my radical. the lack of visible speedometer is a real pain for me as i literally have no idea how fast im entering corners etc!
it needs to be bright and visible in sunlight, 12v or wireless and relatively accurate. and of course cheap! sub £50 ideally but would go for used item if needed! cheers

I bought a second hand road angel and used it as a speedo, found this to be the cheapest option, it's still in garage doing nowt, want me to bring it to Blyton so you can see if it's an option?

iPhone, ipad running the speedbox app will give you a nice large display and logged data, you must be able to get similar with any smartphone or tablet.

yes please jon! is it battery powered or 12v as i currently have nothing to plug it into?
i dont have a smart phone at moment or a tablet but hopefully wont be too long. a large clear display would be best!

i was going suggest a snooper 3zero.... but a road angel for free would be better!

i bought one not long ago (a snooper that is) and will be using it in my mk this year as a speedo aswell as a camera detector, much easier than fannying around with magnets

Beware of the latency in them. GPS tells you how fast you were going, not how fast you are going. Look for 10Hz (or better) update rate.

yeah,my old race technology was 20hz and was pretty damm good to be honest. it needs to be more consistent than anything really so i have some reference points for cornering speeds etc.

I found it usefull though not instant, the antenna is built in if it does do the job for you remote ones are about £7 on fleabay then you can put the display where you want rather than up top in line of site.
