Hi all.
I'm currently building up an ex 750MC Locost racecar for a friend to use as a trackday/sprint car.
We're fitting a 1600 Xflow to a type 9 and need a starter motor for it.
The car is wired for an inertia starter so one of those would be preferable if possible. It has a three bolt fixing.
What do you think would be best?
Thanks
Brian
Has the engine been used with an inertia starter? X flow flywheels use two types of starter ring gear one for inertia starters which IIRC has110 teeth and the pre engaged which has 130 teeth . Using the wrong starter will cause problems. Ford changed to the pre engaged for a good reason
Yes thinking about it the bevels on the ring gear teeth are on the gearbox side so we'll have to go with the inertia type I reckon. I'll take a starter off another car and try it before I get a new one.
