main beam woes, small progress

Today I've been attempting to fix my main been issues.

I have a white and blue which runs from the stalk to the relay and this gets power when either switched on or flashed, I have a solid blue wire which runs from the relay to the headlamps which controls the main beam however this never gets power when flashed or switched on BUT when I connect the solid blue to a live feed the main beam comes on with no issues.

Am I right in thinking this can only be the relay? As every other terminal on the relay gets power apart from the terminal which the main beam (solid blue) connects to.

I'm determined to crack this and not admit defeat call in a auto sparky!

It sounds like either the relay isn't wired correctly (and some vary as to how the pins are laid out), or it's knackered.

a: check the earthling on the relay.

b: use a bulb between the relay coil pins, see if that lights.

When you say use a bulb between the pins how do I wire it?

Mechanics I can do electrics I can't so please bare with me.

Does sound like the relay is duff, or wired wrong.
You can quickly tell if it's duff by replacing it with one of the other ones that you know is working. If it now works = duff relay, if not, = duff wiring.

All sorted lads, thanks a lot for your help, it's turned out to be the relay, had I know what I was doing I would of probably found it within hours but you live and learn. They says it's the small things...... I'm chuffed to bits as it was the last electrical problem sorted and everything works.

I don't have much luck with relays, I had no indicator s to start with and it turned out to be the flasher relay and the hazard really!
