Type 9 gearbox conversion to electronic speedo
Schrodinger - 25/6/17 at 10:30 AM

I'm wanting to convert my t9 gearbox to drive an electronic speedo I have had a search on hear and itseems revotec used to do a drive but I cannot find anything on their website. Has anybody any other suggestions as to suppliers, I do not want to use magnets or other contraptions attached to the prop shaft as I have found them quite unreliable in the past.

Carbuilder solutions have an electronic speedo sensor (see link) and also sell an adaptor plate to allow it to fit into the type 9 speedo cable fitting. Obviously whether this sensor will work for you depends on which speedo you are fitting.

Speedo sensor

Adaptor for type 9

I hope that helps.

There is a way if you can find the part.
Some sierra's had an electronic pickup that was used for EFI.
It needs a different speedo drive gear as the electronic drive goes from the rear of the normal cable drive.
If gives 5 pulses for 2 rotations of the gearbox output shaft.
Give Steve a call at BGH. He supplied both the gear and the sensor for me.

Hope that helps.

You can then add a speed sensor from a Puma/Focus. I have the wave form and pin outs if needed for these encoders.

Most electronic speeds also your with a couple of magnets and a sens on the hub/prop/diff flange. The ETB Digidash lite manual (download form their website) has pictures of this type and the sensors/magnets are available form them.

Doesn't one from any ford fwd gearbox screw on with the threaded adapter?
