Stripping out the a4 I bought as a donor, and need to decide what to keep. It's a drive by wire throttle so was going to keep that part of the
loom and pedal. The clocks would be handy too.
So the big question is what do I need to get it to run on a standard ecu?
Obviously remove the immobiliser, but then what?
It's a track day car so don't need any creature Comforts. I did think about keeping the fan controller setup
Anyone have a wiring diagram? It's the BFB 163bhp engine
If you u2u me the reg from your donor car and an email, i can look up and send you what i have access to, i should be able to sort diagrams for the
engine, clocks, immobiliser etc.
You can then pare down the loom to something more manageable, if you want to retain the immo the clocks are needed, however they may need the abs can
signal to work as a speedo, iirc early cars have a vehicle speed sensor on the gearbox, later cars don't.
Using the ecu controlled fan is a good idea as it will operate proportionately to the temperature, it's controlled by a pwm signal fed from the
ecu.
Getting a vcds lead will help for configuring the ecu in some aspects and diagnosing any faults during the build (depending upon the ecu fitted a
clone may suffice), other things like immo-off are a specialist edit and reflash by aomeone with the correct equipment, i have done things like this
myself however the cheap clone flash tools are hit and miss with compatibility, and working out what needs changing can be an effort on some
ecu's.

I spent a bit of time stripping out wires I thought I wouldn't need and have ended up with a very small loom.
Accelerate pedal, clocks, fuel pump and sender supply
Ignition switch.
That's about it.
Hopefully the go engine temp, fuel level, and tach will work on the clocks. Think the speedo will beed abs sensors to play and they ate long gone.
