Cooling fan temperature 1.6 CVH
Tinbasher - 20/10/22 at 07:12 PM

Hi can anyone help I have overheating issues on my 1.6 CVH, I think
The fan switch fitted is too high at on at 100 off at 95 degrees C.
Does anyone know what temp the fan should cut in

Thanks
Dave

When foes it overheat? When stationary/ticking over would indicate a possible fan/sensor issue. If when driving and it's a cooling issue as the fan shouldn't be needed.

A quick look in an old catalog shows 1.6cvh escorts having an intermotor 50013 or 50014 switch. They're both 103c/98c on/off.

Hi it overheats when still it must be a fan sensor as it won’t cut in but the fan works if fan switch is bypassed

I'd change it then.

Are you using the original sensor/position or something different? Around 95-105-ish switching is quite normal if the sensor is on the engine (as I'd expect from the spec' I found). On the rad it's more likely to be 85-95-ish range.

There's a list of Intermotor sensor parts numbers/thread size/switching temps here...

I've used a twin temp switching sensor in the past when I wasn't sure which to go for and then tried both circuits to see which was best.

OK thanks I will give that a try
