God help us, I came across this gem on Pistonheads, OP is now ripping off the ECU plug to shorten the loom for no reason I can fathom…
Hi,
I was told a while ago not to shorten the earth wires on an EFi harness "because the ECU knows the lenght and the performance will be affected if
you shorten them"...is there any truth in this?
Give me strength.
it,s pistonheads, thats the sort of stuff you expect from them, another gen from when i was on there some years ago
"i want 350 BHP , what car should i buy" ?
Post was from 2009 though!
It's "wrong" in the true sense of it, but it's right in some other fringe aspects.
Grounding of the various paths affects signal performance. If you shorten the shield on a sensor line, you can alter the shape of the signal the wire
inside it transmits (you're changing inductance and capacitance) of the signal line.
It totally depends what you're shortening.
