Management System Problem
steve allen - 20/2/05 at 05:26 PM

Hi can anyone give me advise on what I could be doing wrong:
I have fitted a 1.8 Zetec and using a Dunnel 3D management system (Bought Second hand) as far as I know I have fitted a 1.8 Flywheel. Today being the day I thought I would try and see if it would fire .........and no spark. i have no idea what to check for, hence some help is needed. Ignition live is ok, Battery live ok, and earth. I am only going to use 2d so Flywheel sensor is plugged in, Thermostat is plugged in and the unit which i guess is the coil pack. What do i check! Is the flywheel wrong or is the Ignition system broke,
Any advise welcome on what i can doto check
Steve

No only the one earth that I know about, there was only 3 wires to connect (Ign, Battery and earth) the rest are plugs.

i dont no then sry, but i have a wiring diragram some where, if thats any help?

That would be Brill. anything at the moment would be of help. Just to elimante one thing, would it matter if the wrong flywheel was fitted of would i still get a spark, at the time I was fitting the engine I had two Flywheels so used the better one of the two. There was slight differences in the Hole arrangement but all other dimensions were the same. What is the differences between different Zetec flywheels ?

Dunno if it has any bearing, but apparently the flywheel sensor for a manual is different to an automatic. Do you know what your engine was out of originally?

i will send you the wiring diagram to your email in just a second

Yes it had the two holes with the middle drilled out as you have stated, The difference between the two i had was: the one had just holes all the way around the other the same holes in the same places but towards the outer edge of the flywheel part of the hole was machined away, all the way around. Hope this makes sence, a little bit difficult to explain.

Many Thanks for the wiring details, Still at a loss though on how the system actually works, Is there a way of testing the unit to create a spark outside of the engine. i.e mock flywheel and using the flywheel sensor etc. still not sure if the Management system is faulty or the Flywheel is wrong, (If that's possible) any advise welcome, either way seems like engine out to change flywheel or hand in pocket for a new management system. didn't want to do both to find out which one is wrong
