Think injector wirings a bit GUFF!!!

Im getting to a point where i can bundle up my wiring and finish it off but ive just found a possible problem with my injector wiring. Ive attached a piccy to illustrate what i mean.

On the right is what i have in my car(the engine loom from MR2), and on the right is what i beleive it should look like. I dont understand why theyve joined the two wires together then split them later on. Surely this means you have all four injectors injecting at every stroke? the haynes manual basically shows what ive drawn on the left which means that there should be two going off at any one time not 4.

any suggestions?

does it run a twin coil/wasted spark system?

No i dont think it does but this is the injectors not sparks.

I run the same as on the left, two injectors together, this is what Emerald use as does Rover. I suspect the other diagram is wrong as the other option normally used is one at a time.

Fin,

They should be wired as the left, which is inputs 20 & 10 respectively on the ECU.

They batch fire in pairs by the ECU 'grounding' the injectors.

It shows the wiring for a pushbutton start and flip ignition also.

Right, batch firing in pairs is pretty std practise on European Bosch systems until they went to SFI individual firing, and twin batch firing is, as was said, used by a lot of the aftermarket systems (no need for a phase sensor then!) BUT.................

I don't know what the Toyota uses!!!!!!!

It might fire all the injectors at once, who's to say it doesn't! The Bosch K-Jetronic "mechanical" system fires all the injectors continuously!!

I don't think anybody on here, unless they know the Toyota system (is it a nippondenso system????) will be able to answer you!

Hmm, well, Toyotas own information manual on the European D type EFI system says that they are batch fired in pairs by current controlled driver transistors.

This is borne out when I tested my system with an oscilloscope whilst finding firing relationships for the Megasquirt.

However, if you're using an aftermarket ECU it is down to the manufacturers.

There are other variants if it's an imported model or an early model.

well after a long deal of tracing wires and research i found that my pinouts seem to match this one really well...

there are a few differences but what i do see is how theyve mentioned that pins 2 and 7 of the 10 pin connector are connected to all four injectors......

hmmm still more work needed i think.

That's a Jap spec AE86 wiring diagram not European.

If yours is early MR2 it will follow this convention, however the later models in this country use the batch fire.

Sounds like it follows the early pattern.

well ill probably just leave the wiring as it is. it worked before i took it outta the car so should work now, maybe with bad efficency and emmisions.

Maybe once the engines run in i can play about with the wiring and see if it can be split.

firing all injectors together will not particularly harm emissions in our sense of the term, car manufacturers do know what they are doing!

Compared to a pair of Webers, your emmissions will be brilliant!!

Don't worry about it, just use it as it was in the toyota.
