With my new chunky dash all made up Ive been searching high and low for some toggle switches with a long threaded mounting doodah.
I know you used to be able to get em yonks ago but all I can find now is switches with a threaded portion about 10 mill long max.
Ive tried all the usual sources maplins,svc,willowvale RS etc but no joy anyone got any ideas.

Can't see from your archive what the dash base is made of but if it's MDF or something similar why not locally reduce it's thickness at the back with a router and use a standard switch?

Thats why i used ally inserts in the construction of mine, i was to tight to buy new switches and warning lights and wanted to reuse the old ones that had been on a very lightly padded ally dash, and there is no way they were going to fit through 10mm mdf!

That was mark 1 dash Mick Im on mark 3 now (changed columns).
I'm using 22mill MDF which I did locally reduce for the main switch panel (above tunnel) trouble is using exercise mat padding its still too thick for bog standard switches.
Those switch panels on western marines site look cool Clive.

What I really need is the old fashioned sort of ham radio type shop where they dealt with old ex MOD stuff where you could go for a good old root around.Sadly theyve all long gone.
