Affordable VDO sets
Mave - 14/4/05 at 03:49 PM

Has anyone tried one of the VDO instrument sets? They come in different styles, and seem to be very affordable, especially here:

That's 279 dollars, for a set complete with senders, only the tacho is missing (but that's just 70 dollars).

Am I missing something, or is this a good deal?!?

well spotted!

Be excellent with backlights.

Mave,
I bought that set - it is a good deal. However, I did not fancy the small speedo (3 3/8" IIRC), so I also bought matching 100 mm tacho and speedo. Now I have a redundant/spare speedo from the kit. Check for part numbers,
4"Speedo #437 - 155D.....$115.95
4" Tacho #333 - 160D......$83.39
Five pce Kit # 600 904D.....$279.95
The only feature I don't like is that the speedo only has Mph graduations i.e it does not have dual Metric Kph in red in the centre) and "old money" Mph graduations on the outer.
Hope that helps,
Alf

I've asked Summit about the MPH-KM/H thing, as I had seen pictures of those dials with, and without the two combined. According to them the 3 3/8 dials have both.

The 3 3/8" dial in my kit is mph only (as is the 4" speedo). I am still looking for the dual kph/mph face for the 4" dial and figured I might have to get it out the UK. E.g. Do you know if the picture in the "Lowtension" ad in Kit-Car mag
show the 3 3/8" or 4" dial? (www.lowtension.com)
