I have a problem bypassing the neutral starting cutout on the Kwak. A positive feed goes through the neutral lamp feeds back to ECU where it is split
into the gear position switch where it earths. If I cut the gear position feed I wont get a neutral indication, if I feed 12v to ECU from lamp - then
select another gear it conflicts 2nd/Neutral.
Does anyone have any simple suggestions please...
I have thought of running to earth through another switchable source not through the gear position switching. Any thoughts?
Don't know specifically about the zx12. However, the FJR1300 has the neutral switch as you described, but also a secondary circuit which checks
for the kickstand and clutch, if the kickstand is up and the clutch is pulled in it will allow you to start the engine in gear. Are you certain that
your wiring harness doesn't have the same feature?

You have to start at the KickStand.
If the Kick stand is up (engine is on his wheels), you have an OR situation or clutch or neutral is needed to start the engine.
If the stand is down you need Neutral to start!!
Soow what i should do in your case is make a clutch switch on your clutch pedal
and wire the kickstand for situation up.
and you are done..

P.s. If you want to be sure that you are using all of your horses don't just pull the clutch line to ground..( - and drive arround with clutch
in- ) ecu's can be very complex the hayabusa for example has for every gear his own fuel mapping
also think they aren't made for this type of usage.
I'have in mind to even be able to "switch" the kickstand up and down because i think when measuring gasses (emisions) it might have
influence (they could have programed it a bit different for that)
About what you says/background info
The ECU Is a microcontroller and they can only look at 2 things Pullup (pin is conected to ground using a resistance and the voltage will make pin
high) or Pull down (pin is connected to x volts with a resistance and the pin is taken low)situations!
Your ECU determinds in your case if the switch is on or not (neutral is in or out)
by the line wich is pulled down by the switch!!!
the 12volts enter the lamp, go trouhg the resistance and then its holden op, it cant go any frurther (because the Neutral ECU cable is an input
function- high impedance-)
soow the ecu "sees" that the pin is high.
then if the switch is closed (neutral is selected) then the line is pulled down to 0 volts (chasis).
Never ever (maybe it is protected) let that cable "float" that means connect it to 12volts or to ground but don't let it just be
there...!!!
now you know how it works!

@tks - the question is simple if you know the answer. It's obvious it wasn't just black and white but I thought I would ask to be sure!
FYI the zx12 is also gear mapped, there is a restrictor on 6th to give 'busa's a chance! I believe also on 1st and 2nd to prevent
flipping.

i also think that the gear mappings aren't usefull
they are there to compensate extra air incoming from the speed @ wich you drive it.
because of the fact that a bec never is gonna reach the speed that reach the bikes they aren't usefull.
If you can make a fooler make one for the 3 gear or so...offcourse be carefull, a lean mixture is bad for the valve's,piston etc.

I take your point about the gear mapping... maybe it could be user switchable. I know I wont be doing any flips but as for the others... afterall,
that's why we are rebuilding

i would think the gear mapping is also related to a ram air effect that is evident at high speeds such as the latest r1 which brings ram air in at 170 ish mph ( although irrelivent really as its not achieveable in a bec )
