I finally got impatient. Not impressed by the cheaper alternatives i have finally purchased a DD2 from Mac1. Awesome bit of kit. Will be fitting it
soon. I cant believe how comprehensive it is.
Does anyone have any logger data they could send me so i can try out the analysis software. I want to try the track mapping part. Im also interested
if anyone has had any problems to share with final solutions.
During investigation i have found that ETB are developing a DD2 lite version - more akin to road use without the datalogger unit. Target price will be
approx £395+vat. Not yet available but due for Sept05. Specs havent been released yet. ETB website / email contact is excellent so worth emailing them
if you want to know more. Mac1 will be getting an advance unit in due course for assesment hopefully.
I have a DD1 and it is an awesome piece of kit for the money. ETB have good customer service aswell.
Rich.
You are right about customer service. I emailed them and got a thorough fast response from John.
He gave me details of the DD2 lite.
I have asked them to consider upgrading DD2 to include MPG readout and a password style ignition immobiliser. He sounds up for suggestions. Im well
impressed so far, cant wait to get it installed.
Ive just being playing with an advance copy of the tools software with video overlay added. Quite amazing. Im not sure exactly how to work it but they
gave me a demo video to see what is possible. Im now trying to load bare video and see if i can edit track data on top of it.

you are right tks. On first look they are expensive (£699) but if you compare to the other comparable units they are immensly good value. Iam not a
rich builder, i have to work hard for all of my bits. In the case of the DD2 i have a huge list of decorating i have to do for the wife - i got the
cash instead of paying for a decorator! On balance she has paid me very well insdeed.
Keep up the good work with your development. You are onto a good DIY product. If i had your electronics skills i too would go this route, but
unfortunately iam mainly a mechanical engineer by trade.
Keep your eyes peeled for the DD2 Lite that is due for launch soon. Initial target price is only £395+vat which is superb value compared to going the
clocks route. I dont know what the features will be but suspect it will be the road functions from the std DD2 (ie no datalogging and race functions).
Hi Darren
its no problem, i always would respect your/anyones choice for buying..
its just that i think its an bit to expensive..
the day my project is unther way..you could always sell yours on ebay...
and join the group of the rear lowcost ones..
and proberly stick with some money to take your 'other half' out to dinner
Regards,
Tks
i'm 22years old sow no big money for me!
Both are very good value for what you get IMHO, look at the equivalent Stack etc and you are looking well into 4 figures (£1000+).
The original Digidash was very good value at around £500, if you were to buy half decent seperate gauges, lights, senders etc I bet you wouldnt be far
off spending £3-400 and wouldnt have half the functionality. The DD2 is very nice and has some extra features that certainly make it worth the extra
for track use but possibly has less benefit to a road car as most of the extra functionality is in logging, video overlay etc, hence why they are
probably doing the lite version.
The bargain way of doing it though is to keep an eye out for a second hand DD1 from those upgrading, I picked mine up for £300
