Please bare with me. Ive managed to disconnect the 2 wires from the thing that screws into the radiator! I presume its something to do with the temperature but Im not sure. Can the wires go on either way? Any advice for a (total) novice? Cheers.

Probably the fan switch.

should be ok either way.
