I have a VDO fuel gauge and sender. The both came without instructions. The gauge has terminals for the lamp - easy, plus 3 others, labled +, - and S. 12V, ground and signal I should think. The fuel gauge is just a variable resistor with 2 terminals. Should this connect to 12V or ground?
senders are pretty much always relative to ground.

+ is 12v ignition on supply.
- is earth.
S is to one terminal on sender.
Other sender terminal is to earth.
