Auto electrical courses
shortie - 5/9/05 at 09:00 AM

Seeing as I have finished (for the time being) my car I have been thinking about maybe doing a course in auto electrics as it is an area that I find really interesting (not sure why, I must be mad!! )

But anyway...does anyone happen to know any courses that are available that are eveningou type courses where you can do auto electrics.

I know it's a long shot but thought I would ask.

ta,
Rich.

It could be worth having a look on the websites for your local colleges or calling in for a prospectus. In my experience it might be worth talking to the dept concerned as they may put one on if there is enough interest - hence they are not always published.

Thanks guys,

Will look into it a bit more, trouble is alot of the courses tend to be either full or part time but obviously I am at work during the week.

Must be something out there or maybe I should just keep buying engines and wiring looms to play with

Rich.

Hi Rich, apologies, I didn't read/explain the link I had sent you!
Further down the page is another link, they may be able to point you in the right direction!
Link for this one again:-

http://www.motor.org.uk/

In the 'old' days, an auto spark had quite a long apprenticeship, but of course auto electrics today is completely different!
I think I would be inclined to contact the link above, they may be able to point you in the right direction!

I would recommend getting the paper for part time courses from the local technical college. See if they are running one part time.

I have done quite a few courses over the years at night school. Usually interesting.

My apprenticeship was block release from Work at Kitson College in Leeds.

Your timing could be perfect because the courses usually start about now.

So get your skates on and sidecutters at the ready.

Rich

I'm sure they do a course at Brooklands college, james did his welding course there and last time i hade some paperwork they seemed to do a lot of motor related courses.

ned - 6/9/05 at 02:09 PM

i was gonna suggest brooklands, but bob beat me to it, though i'm guessing it might be a little too far for you?

have you tried crawley college of technology? i did a part time day release course there a few years ago, but admitantly it was sh*t!

Ned.

crawley college seems to have merged with haywards heath college to form the college of central sussex WTF!

anywho:
http://www.centralsussex.ac.uk/courses/index.asp course search page

but the only thing remotely close (i use remotely in the loosest of ways) i can find is this one:
http://www.centralsussex.ac.uk/courses/view.asp?id=349

maybe worth giving them a call though, you never know.

Ned.
