is it a bad combination?
taken my indy on it's maiden voyage tonight after passing sva, sat it for most the trip at 40-60mph ranging from 1500rpm to 3400rpm in 5th. the
temp gauge made it to a constant 110 C
i ran it for the 4-5 miles back home and the guage dropped down to around 100 when i stopped but then when i drove again it went back to 110?!
it took literaly 7-8 minutes after parking up for it to drop back down to 50 degrees.
there's minimal pressure in the header after a very short time, the pipes aren't so hot that they can't be touched and the gauge just
goes up far too fast!
so has anyone had a similar situation? or is it simply that i'm still looking at a shafted cooling system?!
Sender isnt matched to VDO gauge,i had the same thing happen to me with my racetech gauge but in the opposite as i couldnt get the gauge past 40
degs.
I got a sender for the racetech from rally design and it sits between 85/90 ish on a nice run, heads towards the 100 in traffic but the fan cuts in and
pulls it back to 80.
Pipes are burning hot on mine when it got over to the 100 mark.
Also you will know when its overheating as pintos will not pull your grandmother out of bed when too hot,put some pics up of the rad possition and plumbing if its the water works as i'm sure someone here can put you in the right direction if its a bit wrong.
well that pi$$ed on my fire, it is actually a sender that came with the gauges!
doesn't make any sense though.
nothing feels that hot
the pipes don't start expanding at all
the water isn't bubbling in the headertank
let it stand for 5 minutes and there is minimal pressure built up in the headertank if any at all!
it can stand ticking over for 30-35 minutes with nothing other than the little nissan fan running and it won't over heat.
there's a good flow of water around the system as it flows back through the little return pipe into the top of the header tank............
i'm just scratching my head now!
I've the same problem with mine. On the std, Sierra sender and clocks everything was OK, but with the VDO combination it's constantly at 110.....
