Hi,
I have a new VDO electronic speedometer for my Ginetta ...
BUT
... no wires, instructions, diagrams, sender !!!!
So I'm looking for a sender. I understand I have to use a "hall effect sender", better is a "plug-in hall effect sender" ...
am I right?
Where can I find the sender I need + fitting instructions, wires, wiring diagrams, calibration instructions?
I imagine it is important to say I have a Type 9 gearbox?!
Is there someone who can supply me with a part number?
Any information will be helpfull.
Thanks.
Try www.lotension.com. they sell VDO instruments at low prices. Be Lucky.
Lowtension has a W. sorry
I dont thnk you will get much response from Lowtension they seem to have gone broke.
Thank you,
tried Lowtension but no answer.
Now trying www.greengauges.com and www.speedycables.co.uk

Try ETB as well. I recall that they had a special offer on VDO gauges recently so may know a thing or 2 about sender comatibility.
... will try

granada v6 type 9 has a speed sensor on the tailcasing.atb say i should be able to use this.you may be able to do similar.hall sensors & daisy wheels can be a pain to set up.give atb a call i found them very helpful
Hi,
On the outer casing should be printed a number; this is the Speedo number.
Usually 9 digits long. From this information I should be able to obtain the correct sender and wiring information.
If no number - what diameter, max speed and how many pins? (should be 8).
Thanks
Neil.
Let me know your email, and I can send full calibration instructions on pdf.
Google for Siemens VDO, you should find thje full instructions on the USA site.

Hi all,
Thank you for all these informations. (Syd Bridge you have U2U)
Soperfast, thank you for the diagram. I will U2U the 9 digit code on the Speedo as soon as possible (this evening I hope).
I'm not able to have a look at the gearbox right now but it came from a Ford Sierra 2.3D (I do not remember which year) but I think it only has a
"hole" for the mechanical cable.
I received two answers from the companies you told me to ask for informations. One from speedycables and one from merlin motorsport.
Speedy Cables say they can supply a short speedo cable with a sensor on the end that will work my speedo. Total cost : 66.15£ (sent to Belgium).
Merlin Motorsport also say they can help. I'm waiting for more informations from them.
Cheers
Thank you for the info syd ... seem really complete
