Hi Guys

Just wondered what the most common battery was to use with the blade engine,

and how much you paid?

Cheers Mike

I use a standard blade one and have had no problems but alot of people use a car one I believe.

the original bike one mike but you can get ones with slghtly higher amps etc

I have bike battery as it has a battery box/relay unit as standard.

If you have an MK battery tray a 069 is a perfect fit - it has pillar terminals.

i was on the understanding i needed a car battery for light etc,

a 069 is that a car or bike battery Genesis?

Cheers Mike

069 is a Car Battery. Bike battery is upto it - if a litle more interactive - with trickle charging etc. Bear in mind that most bike batteries don't usually run two headlights and two main beams otherwise it's fine.

I can't think of many super bikes that DON'T run two headlamps.

There isn't many now but in 1997 I bet there was a few. Also some superbikes don't have two headlights one is main and the other is full beam - so not on together. Let's not forget there is also a reverse light (where fitted) and a fog light, two extra indicators - not to mention hazards - there 'could' be more load on a bike battery than it was initially designed for - but it'll probably cope with it. Well... mine has upto now!

I saw a bike on the hard shoulder t'other day with Hazards on WTF!?!?

MDS are the cheapest Ive found, but £40 isnt bad if its a good brand (Yuasa or Varta).

A bike battery is fine. Its a lot smaller and lighter than even the new crop of car batteries. If you have any doubts get a good quality 12 or 14Ah rating and it will be fine, there isnt much extra running on a BEC and (big) bike batteries dont tend to be maxed out anyway.

Car batteries are definately cheaper and more powerful. I priced one up at £20 for a 30Ah, they come at the expense of weight though.

Just depends what you are building your car for
