SD1 Clutch
darrens - 6/1/06 at 12:55 PM

Just been to get a clutch for the project and as usual there are two variations, both the same size for the SD1 3.5ltr,

The gearbox I have is the LT77 17A, do I go for the earlier clutch for this box or the later type, would imagine the earlier one for this box but don't want to order it and not be the right type.

Cheers
Darren

The differance between the two clutches depends on what type of thurst bearing carrier you have, plastic or metal as the thrust bearings and presure plates are different.

I think you can use the clutch kit with the plastic bearing carrier on any engine/gearbox combination as the thrust bearing and carrier are one piece. If you buy the clutch kit for the metal bearing carrier you need the thrust bearing carrier.

Have a look on the rimmers brothers web site www.rimmerbros.co.uk or give them a call as they can advise which one to buy.

The plastic bearing carrier is the later one
