HI
Is it feasible to fit a bike alternator to kit car ??, as they are a lot more compact. or are they not able to kick out the required charge?
do bikes have alternators then
most bike ones are gear driven but anything is possible some car ones are as small and also compact tractors have small ones
The small one people often fit is the Diahatsu/Nippon Denso Alternator. These are both small and light. I've heard they are also sold for a
small fortune by the race part suppliers.
Found this link a while ago which should be useful if you go that route.

If you go for a bike one work out how many amps you need and add a safety margin - not that locosts have the toys fitted even to a small hatch these
days, but bright halogens and an electric demister could potentially push you over the comfortable current handling of a bike alternator.
theres no chance of any of them "goodies" on my build! Is the wiring the same on the Daihatsu as normal car wiring? I know a lot of bike
wiring has quite a few wires goin into the rectumfier!.
Am i right in assuming car alternators have the rect/regs built into them and bike alts are seperate?
cheers Colin

Many moons ago, I heard tell of electrically heated front screens (for demist purposes) as used by caterham (???)
Do these exxist?
How much do they cost?
and (finally the relevent bit) how many amps do they take?
Cheers
Bob
