Video overlay of speedo etc
gingerprince - 10/2/06 at 04:05 PM

A year or so ago I came across a piece of software (free I think) that would take logged data such as speed, rpm etc from various sources and allow you to create an overlayed speedometer style display over video - useful for track days etc. It did "proper" dials not just basic text.

I know you get software with Stack, G-Tech units etc, however these are very specific to the hardware.

Anyone know of this software (or similar) and where might be available?

Oops I guess this should probably be in the computer forum but I'll not add another thread and let Mod's move it if needs be

If you know the format of the data for the revs etc it would be resonably easy insert this data into a video stream,
if you had a set of data, format document and the relevent video clip i might be interested in starting an open source program todo such a thing.

The other option is to try to get the speedo, rev counter into the picture, even if it means buying a cheap tacho for the job.

Any chance you could do one for the Veypor?

if you have a file with the data in it then possibly yes id be able to reverse engineer something.

you'd have to tell me what was you recorded, ir was it just revs, what was the sampling frequency was or how long the data is for etc.
